Description

The Padovani Music M5 Heavy Trumpet Mouthpiece with Resonator was developed for players looking for a combination of rim comfort, precision, projection, ease in the upper register, and a more centered and consistent sound.

Its medium-depth cup provides a quick response and ease in the upper register, while the heavier construction promotes greater note stability, more centered projection, and a tendency toward a darker tone. The result is a precise and well-balanced mouthpiece, particularly suited to players who prefer a greater sense of stability and focus while playing.

With a 16.25 mm inner rim diameter, the M5 sits between the M3 and M7 models. It offers slightly more ease and agility than the M3 while maintaining more body and comfort than the M7, making it an excellent choice for players looking to develop their upper register without moving to an extremely small rim diameter.

The combination of the M5 dimensions and its heavier construction makes this model highly versatile for jazz, popular music, bands, church performances, studio recording, live performances, musicals, and musicians accompanying artists, especially when greater note definition, focused projection, and a darker, more consistent tone are desired.

The rim profile was designed to provide comfort and precision while maintaining the support and grip required for secure articulation and greater embouchure control. Its Standard backbore provides a balanced response, excellent projection, and great versatility across different musical styles.

Resonator

Padovani Music resonators are available in a variety of finishes and, in addition to their visual elegance, provide variations in tone and projection. The player can use the mouthpiece with or without the resonator, allowing the sound to be adjusted according to personal preference and musical needs.

  • ✅ With resonator: darker, smoother tone with more centered projection
  • ❌ Without resonator: brighter tone with a more open projection

What's the difference?

Compare the M5 Heavy with the closest sizes in the Padovani Music lineup:

  • 🔹 M5 Light: features exactly the same internal rim, cup, throat, and backbore dimensions. The main difference is the external mass of the mouthpiece. The M5 Light tends to provide a more open and brighter response, while the M5 Heavy favors greater focus, note stability, centered projection, and a tendency toward a darker tone.
  • 🔹 A5 Heavy: features the same 16.25 mm inner rim diameter and a heavy construction, but has a deeper cup, approximately equivalent to a Bach 5C. The A5 Heavy favors a broader, fuller, and more substantial sound, while the M5 Heavy, with its medium cup, provides a quicker response, greater ease in the upper register, and a more focused and defined sound.
  • 🔹 M7 Heavy: features the same heavy construction concept and medium-depth cup, but with a smaller 16.20 mm inner rim diameter. The M7 offers even greater agility and ease in the upper register, while the M5 provides slightly more room for the embouchure and greater body to the sound, maintaining an excellent balance of comfort, range, focus, and projection.
